PG 27- Reconfiguring the false wall for the new 2.35:1 screen
The "old" screen is/was a Stewart Filmscreen Firehawk with THX Microperf.
Along with being dirt-cheap and simple, my false wall construction design is very easy to modify. Here, I have sawed the left screen border out. The right side is untouched right now.
Here, the right side screen border has been removed and the new one installed. The new vertical has also been tied into and braced to the "old" vertical and the bottom screen border.
Here the left, right and bottom members are complete.
At this point I decided that I did not need to tie the left and right screen border verticals to the top. The new SmX screen mounts by hanging it on an extruded aluminum strip. I have installed a 3/4" x 96" strip of red oak from Lowe's.
Here is the new screen installed!
